A third of young women check Facebook first thing in the morning, before they even go to the loo, and a fifth log on in the middle of the night, according to a survey published this week. What is going on?
On reflection, I am not too worried about those four-in-the-morning Facebook forays. I often wake up in the middle of the night – not, itself, a sign of robust mental health perhaps – and there aren't many other options at that time. My advice is to read a book until you nod off again, but I have been known to sneak a look at my BlackBerry, so I'm in no position to preach.
